There's a positive correlation between freedom and insecurity. freedom -> infinite choice -> chaos -> decay

despots at least create a sense of "order".

there must be a middle ground, but to assert that middle ground, individuals need to achieve a critical mass

Muslims will not fight to defend Muslims, even if they achieve democracy. Now we have the excuse that most Muslims are oppressed under autocrats in league w/ US interests, but if you look at polls and interviews with people on the street in the mworld, many folks are concerned with establishing domestic tranquility rather than getting into "foreign" wars. Sure, many m countries are trying to get on their feet after decades of colonization. Sure, the masajid boom with criticism of muslims' laziness. but at the end of the day, if these countries had a democracy, and the people were polled whether their nation should go to war to defend lebanon or palestine, they'd opt for their troops to stay home and build nice little power plants for the locals. A free, democratic people arent necessarily the most just or selfless. Heck, as i said before, there's no guarantee they're even intelligent. But how would you get a lazy people to trust a leader's decision to take their people to war without a massive propaganda campaign?
